M Ramseur & Associates, PLLC submitted a proposal for the Shaw University - Leonard Hall, Tyler Hall, and Estey Hall Rehabilitation Projects and Historic Structure Reports RFPs.
We are always looking to have a presence on college campuses, especially prominent HBCUs such as Shaw University (SU). This RFP gave us an opportunity to work with legendary Historic Buildings, which played a large role in the prominence Shaw had in the past and has today in the collegiate world and the local Raleigh community. Details below on the RFP and the outcome.

Leonard Hall
Shaw University is seeking professional assistance to support its proper administration and undertaking of the NPS grant (Project), as follows: · The preparation of a Historic Structures Report (HSR) for Leonard Hall which will be prepared consistent with the National Park Service Preservation Brief No. 43, Preparation and Use of Historic Structures Reports (2005). The HSR shall include at a minimum: measured as-found drawings, including floor plans of all levels and exterior elevation drawings; catalog of historic character defining-features and their condition; fully researched history of the property; comprehensive photographic documentation; and recommendations for appropriate future uses. · The following professional service tasks related to the known building issues, to include: o Preparing all architectural Projects and specifications needed for permitting, if any, and for the Section 106 review process with the NPS. 3 o Assisting on solicitation and vetting of all qualified contractors to undertake the work. o Advising on historic renovation and repair, and verifying all work completion per specifications. o Inspecting all of the construction work to confirm it meets the Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and Historic Preservation. o Assisting with preparing all required grant documentation and providing help with answering any inquiries related to the NPS Section 106 Review as well as the NC State Historic Preservation Office. o Assistance with documenting all work completed under the grant.
